Effective date: 1 July 2026
Safari Companion is a mobile app for iOS and Android that helps you prepare for a safari trip and track your wildlife sightings. We built Safari Companion to be private by design. The app has no user accounts, no login, no servers, and no analytics. Everything you create stays on your device.
This Privacy Policy explains, in plain language, how the app handles your information. In short: Safari Companion does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. The sections below provide the detail.
This policy applies to the Safari Companion mobile app published by Théophile de Cagny (referred to as "we", "us", or "our").
None. Safari Companion does not collect any personal data from you.
To be explicit, the app does not:
The app makes no network calls to transmit your data. There is no backend server that receives, stores, or processes your information. We never see your data because it never leaves your device.
This corresponds to the Apple App Store "Data Not Collected" declaration and the Google Play "No data collected" and "No data shared" declarations on our store listings.
Everything you create in Safari Companion is stored only on your device, in a local SQLite database that is part of the app. This includes:
This data is private to you and to your device. It is not synced to any cloud, not backed up to our servers (we have none), and not accessible to us or anyone else. If your device or its operating system performs its own device backups (for example, an encrypted iOS or Android backup that you control), that is handled by your device and your chosen backup settings, not by Safari Companion.
Safari Companion offers a single one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase ("Pro") that unlocks additional features. We do not process payments ourselves and we never see or store your payment details.
When you make a purchase or restore a previous one, the transaction is handled by:
These providers may process information such as your store account identifier, transaction/receipt data, and purchase status in order to complete and verify your purchase. That processing is governed by their own privacy policies, not by us:
The only purchase-related information stored by Safari Companion itself is a single on-device boolean flag indicating whether "Pro" is unlocked. This flag stays on your device and is not personal information.
Safari Companion uses a deliberately minimal set of third-party services, and none of them are for analytics, advertising, or tracking:
There are no analytics SDKs, no advertising SDKs, no crash-reporting SDKs, and no social-media or tracking SDKs in the app.
Safari Companion does not request any runtime permissions. It does not ask for access to your:
The app works fully without granting any device permissions, because it does not need them.
Safari Companion is a general-audience app and is suitable for users of all ages. It does not collect personal data from anyone, including children. The app is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 — or from anyone at all, since the app collects no personal data. If you have questions about children's use of the app, please contact us using the details below.
Because all of your data is stored locally on your device, you are always in control of it.
Note that uninstalling the app does not cancel or refund a store purchase; purchase records are kept by Apple or Google under their policies, and you can restore a previous purchase if you reinstall the app.
Safari Companion can be used anywhere the app stores are available. Because the app does not collect or transmit personal data, your information is not sent across borders by us. Any data you create remains on your device in your country. Purchases are handled by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat, which may process transaction data in their own locations as described in their privacy policies.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect changes in the app or in legal requirements. When we make changes, we will update the "Effective date" at the top of this page and post the revised policy at the same location. Significant changes may also be noted within the app. Your continued use of Safari Companion after an update means you accept the revised policy.
